Gender
In class we are now hitting the topic of Gender, through gender you see many different things. But we a people are different, compared to the 'sterotype' people normally gives us. They say when you go into a room for an interview, the interviewer has made there decision about you in the first 30 seconds, if they like you or not. From the handshake, to what you are wearing, you are judged. The appearance has alot to do with you, because of Gender. Mowing Service, would you expect to see a woman outside with a lawn mower, just asking to mow your grass for a reasonable price. No, but the fact is it is out there, a news story this summer I particularly remember is about women mowing grass. In Charlotte there is a lawn mowing bussiness where a girl gets outside and mows your grass in a bikini. Thus I claim Safety Hazard, no protection if you hit something and it it hits the girl, but I am not saying I wouldnt pay. The fact is, we as Gender species claim one another completely opposite. But yet, we work in the same jobs, women are police officiers, men are in the cleaning services. Women are doctors, and men are hairstylist. Can you name some other forms of jobs, that now are spread between both sexes, but 40 years ago you wouldnt hear of? Whats you opinion of woman in 'the mens' workplace, and men in 'womens' workplace? In some cases does Gender over rule the other no matter what? Should Gender matter when you are in a hiring situation? Please Explain.

Tell My Horse
We have been reading the book Tell My Horse, which is a guide to the authors personal experience in Haiti. Out of the chapters we have already read, what is one theme or message that catches your eye? How does Hurston portray that message?

Speeches
Today in English we talked about speeches and listened to a view. Personally I like giving speeches and I don't get nervous. Some people studder or rock back and forth and feel very uncomfortable saying speeches. There are even people who have a fear of speaking in front of people which is actually a phobia called glossophobia. Glossophobia characterizes a person to be anit-social. Do you believe that people who are glossophobic are all anti-social? Do you think speeches are necessary? How do you feel when you say a speech? Do we really need to learn how to say speeches even if our career does not use them at all? What do you think?

Krik Krak and Mts. Beyond Mts
This past week we started reading Krik Krak. And today in class we were discussing the comparisons and differences between the two books, Kirk Krak and Mountains beyond Mountains. Over the summer we were supposed to read Mountains beyond Mountains which is a non-fiction book, and Krik Krak which is a fiction book. They have different writing styles and other differences but also comparisons such as they're both talking about the hard life in Haiti. But overall with the two books we have just read, which book did you like the most and why?

krik krak
We have just started reading Krik Krak in class. These short stories seem to give a vision of what Haiti is really like. The first four stories seemed to be really personal and leave an effect on the reader. So my question is, What do you think of Krik Krak so far?
